The Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera is compatible with Canon EF lenses and became available in November, 2008. The EOS 5D Mark II is sold in a body-only configuration at an estimated retail price of $2,699. It is also offered in a kit version with Canon's EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM zoom lens at an estimated retail price of $3,499.

Canon pre-announces firmware update for EOS 5D Mark II
Canon has announced that they will be releasing firmware update 2.0.3 for the
EOS 5D Mark II, which will add 24 and 25
frames-per-second (fps) HD Movie recording capability to the camera.
The update will be available as a free download starting in the middle of
March.

This update to the firmware supports the wireless file transmitter that
was released in December 2009 and corrects a situation where visible
noise may appear in images taken by continuous Bulb shooting.

Firmware Version 1.1.0 release
This update to the firmware includes a function to enable the manual
exposure setting when shooting movies.
The upgrade also:
- Disables the function of the depth-of-field preview button when images are played back or when the menu screen is displayed on the LCD panel.
- Fixes a phenomenon where the peripheral illumination of images cannot be properly corrected, even if the images were captured with the lens Peripheral Illumination Correction function set to Enable.
- Fixes the algorithms of the Auto Lighting Optimizer function when Custom Function C.Fn II-3 Highlight tone priority is enabled.
- Fixes incorrect indications on the Arabic, Romanian, Spanish, and Ukrainian menu screens.
- Changes the battery information displayed on the camera when using the optional Battery Grip BG-E6.
